A Pit Stop in Bologna

On our way to Florence, we stopped for a day and a night in Bologna to visit Jordan! He was an excellent host and tour guide, and showed as all around the city.

First thing as we stepped out of the train Jordan was already there, waiting for us! It was so nice to have him around to show us how to get places, no fiddling with maps and directions! Jordan took us straight to our hostel--which was actually a bed and breakfast called the Pratello.
The place was lovely, all clean and cozy and with free breakfast. It was lucky we had Jordan there though, because the receptionist spoke no English at all. We all marveled at Jordan's impressive Italian skills as he chatted away with our host.

Here's a look around the B&B

After we checked in, Jordan took us to an excellent little place just down the street for lunch, where we all got delicious freshly made piadinas. (Similar to a quesidilla, but with Italian ingredients like crudo and tomato sauce, super yummy)

Then Jordan walked us around the city, showing us the sights.

 We even found rock furniture!

 Super comfy!
Jordan was an excellent tour-guide, he totally fit the part.

We saw an impressive room where students used to take anatomy lessons by watching surgeries performed on cadavers.

After hearing all about surgery and cadavers, we were pretty hungry, so we went and got gelato!
We sat in a little park across the street to eat.
 Then back to our tour!
If I learned one thing about Bologna it's that it has a lot of porticoes!
...And cobblestones...
...It also has a lot of motorcycles...
We saw this cluster of several churches, all connected to each other.

Finally, exhausted, we went back to Jordan's room to relax for a bit.

We ended our lovely stay in Bologna with dinner at an excellent restaurant where we got three different kinds of pizza to share: veggie, sausage, and margherita.

 Then we got dessert!
And so ended our brief but very enjoyable stay in Bologna, now to Florence!
